TRIANGLE BOATS
"The vessel 'Blue Moon' is a Triangle 32 that Grampian had built in Whitby in 1964 to 1967 or so.. I own a Triangle 32 that was built in 1965. The hull is basically a full keeled 34 Grampian. I heard that Grampian made the Triangle only for a couple of years, and then sold the moulds to guys who started Triangle Boat Works in Rhode Island. They went the way of all good boat builders.....bankrupt.
The story I was told on my boat was it was built for Grampian by Whitby Boatworks in 1965 and sold to a Doctor in Halifax. It was sold and moved to Florida, back to Maine and now up to Toronto and Lakeshore Yacht Club. My Triangle 32 sails great and is wonderful when a squall comes through or the weather turns." (Jim Sigurdson)
I purchased a Triangle 32 in 1991 from James Balderson of Wiarton, Ontario, Canada.. Mr. Balderson and a friend purchased 2 Triangle 32 boats in kit form from Grampian Marine in Canada in 1970. These two gentlemen parked them side by side in a driveway and proceeded to finish the two boats together. The pilothouse is built of Teak and the interior is done in solid mahogany. All cleats and fairleads were cast in bronze from patterns made by James. Winches are bronze Merriman 5" The boat is called MOONSPINNER and is situated in OWEN SOUND, ONTARIO CANADA. I have the boat rigged for cruising on Georgian Bay in the great lakes.
